Seinfeld
Seinfeld is one of the most significant sitcoms in the history of television. It ran for 9 seasons in nine years and now continues to be in syndication. The re-runs can still be seen on the television. It debuted on NBC on July 5 1989 and continued to run till May 14 1998. It was co-written by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David.
Jerry Seinfeld stars in the show as a fictional namesake with three other main characters: George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards). Most of the show is set in Jerry’s Apartment in New York’s Upper West side. Kramer is Jerry’s neighbor while George and Elaine do not live in the building. The undercurrent theme in Seinfeld is nihilism; a philosophy according to which life is pointless.
Seinfeld was critically highly acclaimed and also very popular. The final season garnered a viewership of over 20 million households. It remained on top 3 on charts from 1993 to 1998, topping twice.
