Porcupine Tree(t) for all likes
People often ask me what it is about Porcupine Tree’s music that I like. For those unfortunate beings, all that I have to offer is a warm dollop of sympathy for they have not missed music but a marvel. Their music is nothing but an addiction. I started listening to it a couple of years back and surprisingly it still remains my favorite. The most enthralling factor remains that they have always been experimenting with their genre and that is what makes their music so distinct. Modeled on the footsteps of Pink Floyd this band began their career 1980’s as a psychedelic rock band and with time transformed from a progressive rock to progressive-metal at present. Their front man, guitarist and band founder Steve Wilson describes this transition as from ‘Old Porcupine Tree to the New Porcupine Tree’. With their latest offering, The Incident, becoming commercially most successful album of all their works; they have provided a whole new dimension to their music.
